About this design
A lone rider picks his way down a rocky slope, a loaded packhorse trailing close behind, hooves catching the loose stone as the trail drops away beneath them. There is real grit in this scene. You can almost feel the dust and the strain in the horses' legs. Carved into a slab of wood, it turns into the kind of western piece a working cowboy would stop and stare at.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built for clean cutting. The sculpt holds tight saddle straps, the cowboy's hat and gear, the muscle and motion of both horses, and a foreground of rough grass and scattered rock that gives the whole panel depth. It is ready for Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, and ArtCAM, and it runs well on a CNC router, a resin or FDM 3D printer, or a laser set up for deep engraving. For the best surface, rough it out with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at a 10 percent stepover to pull out the fine texture in the manes, the rocks, and the grass. Walnut, maple, or MDF all carve beautifully here. Use it for ranch signs, rodeo gifts, rustic wall art, or a centerpiece panel for a western home or lodge.
