About this design
That eye stops you cold. This eagle stares straight out of the wood with the kind of focus only a predator owns, and the feathers flow back from the brow in tight, overlapping rows that catch shadow at every angle. Carve it once and you understand why people hang an eagle over a doorway. It feels like the bird is guarding the room.
Under the drama is a clean, high-detail bas-relief STL built to machine without fuss. The depth is generous enough to throw real shadows across the beak, the deep-set eye, and the layered plumage, so the finished panel reads sharp from across a room. Each feather has its own quill and edge, which means crisp toolpaths and very little sanding when you get the setup right. The file is tested and ready for Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, ArtCAM, and Fusion 360, and it runs equally well on a CNC router, a laser engraver, or a 3D printer. For best results, rough the form with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then drop to a 3mm ball nose at a tight 10 percent stepover to pull out the fine feather lines and the catchlight in the eye. Hardwoods like walnut, oak, and maple show off the contrast beautifully, though it looks just as strong in pine for a rustic cabin piece.
