About this design
Picture a little black raven who has clearly seen some adventures. He wears a slouchy cap with gears pinned to it, a knotted scarf, and a patched coat with a quill and inkpot tucked at his side. Down at his feet sit a pair of worn leather boots, laces and all. There is real charm in this one, the kind of carve that makes people lean in to study every stitch and feather.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built to read cleanly in wood. The layering is deliberate, so the beak, the folds of the coat, and the wing feathers all hold their depth instead of muddying together. Run it in Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, or ArtCAM and the toolpaths come out tidy. For machining, rough the panel with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover to clear the bulk fast, then drop to a 3mm ball nose at 10 percent stepover for the fine work in the face and feather detail. It cuts well on a CNC router, prints nicely on a 3D printer for display pieces, and works through a heightmap if you run a laser. Think wall art, a quirky shelf plaque, a steampunk gift, or a piece for gothic and fantasy decor.
