About this design
A great horned ibex stares down from the mountain while two koi turn through the water below him. It is an odd pairing on paper, but in carved wood it sings. The ridged spiral of the horns, the heavy brow, the flick of the fins, all of it catches light and shadow once you finish the surface and oil it. Hang it in a lodge or a study and people will reach out to touch it.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built for real carving, not just pretty renders. The ibex sits in the upper field with sharp facial structure and flowing fur, and the koi swirl beneath in a tight circular composition packed with scale and fin detail. The model is tested and ready for Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, and ArtCAM, and it runs clean on a CNC router or a 3D printer. For a crisp result, rough the block with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at around 10 percent stepover to pull out the horn ridges and fish scales. The depth holds up beautifully in hardwoods like walnut, oak, or maple, but it carves just as well in basswood for a faster job. Use it for wall plaques, cabin and lodge decor, statement signs, or a one-off gift for someone who loves wildlife and koi symbolism alike.
