About this design
A heavy-shouldered bison stands its ground in a meadow, jagged peaks rising behind it through a stand of pines. There is real weight in this animal, the shaggy mane, the lowered head, the muscle under the hide. Carved in wood, it reads like something hauled out of an old lodge wall, the kind of piece people stop and run their hands across.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built for clean machining. The depth is layered so the bison reads bold in the foreground while the mountains and treeline fall back behind it, which keeps the toolpaths crisp and the focal point sharp. The grass at the base and the texture across the coat hold fine detail without chatter. It is tested and ready for Aspire, VCarve Pro, ArtCAM, Carveco, and Fusion 360, and it runs well on a CNC router, a laser engraver, or a 3D printer. For the cleanest result, rough it out with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at a tight 10 percent stepover to pull out the fur and the rocky ridgelines. Cut it in hardwood, MDF, or resin for cabin decor, hunting lodge signs, framed wall art, or a standout gift for anyone who loves the high country.
