About this design
A quiet moment, caught in wood. This pintail bends its red bill down to preen, white throat glowing against a softly spotted breast, the long wing feathers folded tight. The recessed frame around it reads like a window cut into a slab of timber, so the finished carve looks like the bird is tucked inside the panel. It is the kind of piece that makes people lean in and run a thumb across the feathers.
What you get is a high-detail bas-relief STL built for clean machining. The depth is staggered well, so shadows fall naturally across the wing and into the carved border without any muddy spots. It runs smoothly through Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco and ArtCAM, and it carves beautifully on a CNC router. For wood, rough it out with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then bring up the fine feather work with a 3mm ball nose at a 10 percent stepover.
