About this design
A leaping bass breaks the surface at the top, a brassy reel and rod rest along the rim, and a heavy-bodied fish lies in the shoreline reeds below. The whole platter reads like a slab pulled straight off the lake, with a sunken serving bowl in the middle ringed by water ripple, cattails, and tackle. Carve it and you get the kind of piece an angler stops and stares at.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL with real depth built into it. The recessed center sits well below the raised fish and gear, so your toolpaths get clean separation and the shadows fall right where they should. The wood grain and live-edge texture are sculpted in already, which gives the finished carve that handworked lodge look. It opens and runs in Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, and ArtCAM, ready for any CNC router. For a clean result, hog out the waste with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at 10 percent stepover to pull out the scales, the reel knurling, and the fine reed work. Adjust your depth of cut to suit your machine and your stock. Run it in walnut, oak, maple, or cherry and the relief really comes alive.
