About this design
A bird dog rests in the broken grass after a good morning afield, ears soft, tongue out, a shotgun broken open across a worn canvas game bag, and two cock pheasants laid out beside him. This is the kind of scene that stops a hunter in his tracks. Carved in wood, the long grass catches the light and the dog's coat reads warm and alive, the whole panel telling the story of an upland hunt without a single word.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built for clean cutting. The depth is layered so the dog and birds stand forward of the tangled grass behind them, which gives you honest shadows and real dimension once it comes off the machine. It is ready for Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, and ArtCAM, and it runs well on a CNC router or a resin or FDM 3D printer. For best results rough it out with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at 10 percent stepover to pull out the feather detail and the dog's fur. Walnut, maple, or cherry all suit a piece like this. Finished, it makes a striking wall panel for a cabin, a lodge sign, a den, or a man cave.
