About this design
Christ pulls himself across the broken ground, crown of thorns biting into his brow, and stretches one hand straight toward you. Behind him a rough wooden cross stands on the hill, with stone ruins and dry desert scrub catching the light. Carve this one and the reaching hand seems to come right out of the panel. It stops people. It makes them lean in.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built for deep, dramatic carving. The layered depth does the heavy lifting here, from the folds of the red robe down to the cracked rocks and the texture in the beard and thorns. It runs clean in Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, and ArtCAM, and the toolpaths come off smooth on a CNC router. You can also drop it into a 3D printer for a painted or cast piece, or treat it as a height map for relief laser engraving. For the cleanest result, rough the form first with a 6mm end mill at forty percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose finishing pass at ten percent stepover to pull out the face, the fingers, and the fine thorn detail. Cut it in walnut, cherry, or maple and let the grain carry the shadows. Think church and chapel decor, a prayer room centerpiece, Good Friday and Easter projects, or a wall plaque someone will keep for life.
