About this design
A big goofy pitbull grin, ears soft and relaxed, two paws pressed together into a heart right under that happy face. This is the kind of carve that stops dog people in their tracks. You can almost feel the warmth coming off it, and once it is cut into walnut or oak and the grain catches the light, those expressive eyes really come alive.
Under the hood it is a high-detail bas-relief STL, sculpted with the fur, the wrinkled brow, and the folded paws all reading at real carving depth. The toolpaths run clean, with smooth transitions between the raised face and the chiseled background frame so you do not fight your machine. It is ready for Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, and ArtCAM, and it runs nicely on a CNC router or a 3D printer. For best results, rough it with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at 10 percent stepover to pull out the fur and the fine detail around the eyes and nose. Hardwood gives you the richest contrast, but it carves beautifully in soft maple or pine too. Think pet memorial plaques, dog-lover wall art, rescue and shelter signs, or a one-of-a-kind gift for the bully breed fan in your life.
