About this design
A whole shoal caught mid-turn, fins fanned and bodies overlapping the way real fish move when they swerve as one. The finished carve has that hush of deep water about it, every scale and tail catching light when you hang it on a wall. It is the kind of panel people stop and run a thumb across without thinking.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built to machine clean. The layered fish give you genuine depth, with crisp fin lines and rounded bodies that come off the spindle sharp instead of mushy. It runs nicely in Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, and ArtCAM, and it is ready for a CNC router, a 3D printer, or a laser engraver working from a heightmap. For the best result rough it out with a 6mm end mill at a 40 percent stepover, then drop to a 3mm ball nose and finish at 10 percent stepover so the scales and overlapping fins stay sharp. Scale it to whatever your stock allows, then carve it into wall art, a cabin or lake-house plaque, a coastal sign, a mantel piece, or a gift for the angler in your life. Walnut, oak, and maple all show off the movement beautifully.
