About this design
Two pale blue anemones lean out from the panel like they just caught the morning light. Their petals layer over each other in soft, rounded sweeps, the centers crowded with golden stamens, and below them a tangle of strappy leaves and ground cover spills across the base. Carve this one and people will reach out to touch it before they realize it is wood.

For clean results, rough the shape with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at 10 percent stepover for the fine petal edges and leaf detail. Run it in walnut, maple, or basswood and finish it natural, or add a light wash of color like the piece shown.
