About this design
A young lion cub stares straight out of the wood, ears perked, tongue poking out like it just caught you watching. That little bit of mischief is what makes this carve sing. Finished in walnut or oak, the layered fur and bright eyes pull people in from across the room, and the cheeky grin gets a smile every time.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built for clean toolpaths and real depth. The fur is sculpted strand by strand, the mane fades softly into a bark-textured border, and the raised muzzle and tongue give the face genuine dimension. It runs smoothly through Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, ArtCAM, and Fusion 360, and it carves beautifully on a CNC router in hardwood, MDF, or acrylic. You can also run it on a 3D printer for plaques and display pieces, or a laser that handles relief work. For a crisp result, rough it out with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at 10 percent stepover to pull out the whiskers, eyes, and fine fur. Scale it up for a statement panel or keep it small for a shelf piece. A light stain wash sinks into the carved fur and makes every detail pop.
This one makes great nursery art, a safari themed kids room piece, cabin and lodge decor, or a wildlife gift somebody will actually keep.
