About this design
A formation of heavy bombers thunders across the panel while one stricken plane trails black smoke and fire toward the earth below. There is real drama carved into this scene, the kind of piece that stops a veteran or a history buff cold and makes them lean in to read the detail. Finished in oak, the contrast between the gleaming fuselages and the roiling smoke looks like a war photograph frozen in wood.

For the cleanest result, rough the surface with a 6mm end mill at a 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at 10 percent stepover to pull out the fine work in the clouds and engine cowlings.
