About this design
A morning on the water, frozen in walnut. The top of this platter holds a hunting blind tucked in the cattails, a shotgun and spent shells leaning across the reeds, and a flock of mallards banking in over the marsh. Down at the bottom rim, two drakes paddle through rippling water beside oak leaves and a fallen acorn. The big recessed center stays smooth and open, the kind of bowl that begs to be filled at a lodge table.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built for serious carving. The relief is fully sculpted, with deep separation between the raised border scene and the dished serving well, so your toolpaths read clean and the shadows fall hard around every feather and reed. Drop it straight into Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, or ArtCAM and set your passes. It runs well on a CNC router and suits hardwoods like walnut, maple, or cherry. For tooling, hog out the bulk with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at 10 percent stepover to pull out the duck feathers, the wood grain on the blind, and the fine cattail tips. Adjust depth of cut to match your machine and stock.
