About this design
A gun dog comes back through the timber with a pheasant held soft in its mouth, eyes calm, coat still wet from the field. This is the moment every bird hunter remembers, and carved in wood it stops people in their tracks. The curls of the spaniel's ears, the layered feathers on the bird, the bare trees fading into the background, all of it pulls light and shadow across the panel as you walk past.

The model holds its depth well, from the deep recess around the dog's head to the fine fur and the scaled feather detail on the pheasant, so toolpaths stay crisp instead of muddy. For a clean result, rough it out with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at a tight 10 percent stepover to pull every strand of fur and feather.
