About this design
A big bull mahi turns hard and breaks straight out of the grain, jaw open, dorsal fin raised, every scale catching the light. There is real motion in this one. Cut it, oil it, and you get a fish that looks like it just crashed through the panel and froze mid-strike. Anyone who has ever fought a dolphinfish offshore will stop and look twice.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built for clean toolpaths and honest depth. The scale work, the fin rays, and the rough chiseled wood frame around the fish all read sharp once you finish them, and the layered relief throws good shadow so the piece never looks flat. The file is ready for Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, and ArtCAM, and it runs on a CNC router, a laser engraver working from a height map, or a resin 3D printer for display and casting. For a crisp carve, rough it with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back and finish with a 3mm ball nose at 10 percent stepover. Scale it down for a small plaque or stretch it across a wide board for a statement piece. Hardwoods like walnut, maple, and oak bring out the scale texture beautifully.
