About this design
Look closely and the face shifts. On one side, Christ with the crown of thorns, eyes lowered in quiet strength. On the other, the mane and gaze of a lion. The two halves meet down the center and become one. Carved into warm wood, this piece carries the weight of the Lion of Judah, gentle and fierce at the same time. It is the kind of plaque that stops people in a hallway.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built for clean cutting. The depth is generous through the mane and beard, so shadows fall naturally and the fur texture reads from across a room. It has been set up for CNC routers running Aspire, VCarve Pro, ArtCAM, and Carveco, and it works just as well sliced for a 3D printer or run as a height map on a laser engraver. For the best surface, rough it out with a 6mm end mill at a 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at 10 percent stepover to pull out the thorns, the flowing hair, and every strand of the lion's mane. Run it in walnut, maple, or basswood and finish with oil to deepen those tones. It makes striking wall art, church and chapel decor, prayer room panels, and faith-based gifts.
