About this design
Picture a mallard pair standing watch while five fuzzy ducklings huddle near the water's edge, the stream rippling past mossy stones at their feet. Oak leaves and acorns frame the whole scene, ferns crowding the foreground. It is the kind of carve that stops people in a hallway and makes them lean in close.
This is a high-detail bas-relief STL built for clean machining. The two adult ducks rise forward off a deeply recessed background, every feather group, beak, and webbed foot sculpted to throw real shadow. The ducklings carry that same fine detail, right down to the soft down on their backs. Around them the oak branches, berries, ferns, rocks, and flowing water knit into a believable woodland habitat, with the stream pulling your eye straight through the panel. The file is ready for Aspire, VCarve Pro, Carveco, and ArtCAM, and it cuts well on a CNC router. For best results, rough the relief with a 6mm end mill at 40 percent stepover, then come back with a 3mm ball nose at a tight 10 percent stepover to pull out the feather lines and the texture in the water. Walnut, cherry, and maple all show this design off beautifully.
This one belongs on a cabin wall, over a lake house mantel, or carved as a gift for a hunter or bird lover. You get an instant digital download with commercial use included, so carve it for your own home, build a run of signs and panels, and sell what you make. Add it to your library and put a chisel to it this weekend.
